Virgin Atlantic charges extra for bulkhead and other seats which have more legroom. These seats are referred to as Extra Legroom Seats. Passengers should call Virgin Atlantic reservations as the seats may be already taken on the day of travel. Exit row seats are also reserved for a fee.

Really nice seat and fantastic staff on board. Would recommend row 1 as the foot well in all seats is bigger than the rest of the deck and useful if you plan to sleep. I personally didn't find the galley noise too bad and slept pretty well. The only negative was that the A350 seats are pretty hard (firm) to sleep on, even with the Virgin mattress pad. A whole lot comfier than the 789 though.

Sat at the front of the premium economy cabin on both the outbound and inbound flights from Las Vegas. Outbound flight we were seated in 21H & 21K which was in the 2 seats together pitch on the right side of the plane. The seats were very comfy with the tray table in the arm rest and the tv tucked down between the 2 seats. I'm 5'3 and my feet couldn't reach all the way to the wall so there was more than enough legroom plus the cabin crew offer you a footstool after take off. Our flight home was just as good too. We were sat in the middle and aisle of row 21 (F & G) so had the same legroom and footstool.

Flew from LAS to LHR, and being a night flight, I was hoping to get some sleep. The foot space in the seat was restricted due to the metal box (this seems to be the standard for economy window seats on this aircraft), and the recline on the seat is too much for the already limited space. I'm not a tall person (165cm) but when the person in front reclined their seat, it pressed into my knees and the tv screen was around 6 inches from my face, making it impossible to watch. I was unable to ope my tray table, and had to ask a member of the crew to get the person to put the seat back into an upright position so I was able to eat. The crew were excellent, but Virgin Atlantic either need to stop cramming people in like battery hens, or restrict the recline on the seats.

Our journey on this flight was excellent. The seat configuration is a nuisance as you have to have the bed made or as a recliner. I like to nap and wake up and eat/read/watch TV. But once made the bed is comfortable and stable unlike the BA variety. The bedding and pyjamas are also very good quality. I didn't eat, but my husband said the food was first class. The bar is set up not just with help yourself alcohol, but also fruit juices and water plus snacks. This is useful for an overnight flight. The lighting was very well managed, and the automatic shades allowing you to see out without being blinded by light are very good. I am really impressed with Virgin Atlantic quality and thought/planning in everything - from the sustainable amenity kit to the service.

Economy class flight. The media box under the front seat is just awful if you are normal sized (180cm) as it pushes into your calf when you try to stretch out for overnight flights. Note the aisle seats don't have this box so always go for them. The seats are impossibly hard, halfway into the flight I didn't know how to sit any more. Awful. Shame as the crew was nice as always, and the food edible for a change.

My wife and I flew PE in 22F &G. The middle seat was very cramped. When the seat in front reclined there was only about 6" of legroom to get out of the seat and you have basically to climb over the armrest to exit. We have to fly back London - Johannesburg but managed to change to 2 separate aisle seats. Really view these middle seats as very poor value for money.

Seats in UC are impossible. I love Virgin but won't fly this plane ever again. Recline is about 8" or fully flat, take your choice. I don't sleep much more than an hour on a flight, so reclining to my comfort level as the trip goes on is very important. I am so disappointed. Did I mention that I LOVE Virgin?? Incomprehensible that anyone would approve these awful seats.

My partner and I had 22 H & K from Los Angeles to LHR, and then 21 H & K from LHR to Johannesburg. 22 was wonderful - spacious and comfortable. 21 was less appealing due to less seat width (tray and tv in arm rest) and overhead bins used for very uncomfortable foot rests.

I flew to HKG from LHR for 12 hours in this economy aisle seat. For my height (155cm) I have plenty of leg room so it wasn't a problem for me, but I can definitely see taller people struggling. The seat itself is quite hard and lacks padding overall. The biggest problem for me was the headrest, I seriously struggled to position it to my liking, not even with a travel pillow. Therefore I did not sleep well during this long haul flight.

The seat is like concrete. 12 hours seating on this plane is pure torture. If you must travel , go for row 47a-c, seats more padding and a little extra leg room. Think those that designed these seats should be strapped in and forced to sit in them for 12 hours.Virgin should rip these seats out and treat people like humans, not animals.

This is an extra legroom seat, all of them are for A-C and H-K for rows 45-51 - the middle seats D-G are normal. The extra legroom was great. There was no divider between seat A and B, and there were media boxes under the seat infront slightly reducing the width of the legroom. I did choose the same seat for my return, so would recommend! The dreamliner is great too!

Right at the back of Premium Class so no one behind you. Plenty of room even when the seat in front reclines. The Dreamliner is a very quiet plane and it's quite relaxing. Virgin's Wander Wall is a great idea but it didn't appear to be replenished so get in there quick to grab some snacks, soft drinks however were plentiful. The seat is wide and reasonably padded. One gripe, the tray is in your armrest, it isn't very big and doesn't balance on the other armrest so its a bit lopsided, silly design that makes eating a bit less easy. Economy is separated by curtain for most of the flight and it was pleasing that virtually no one ventured into our cabin to use the loos. Noise isn't intrusive either. Plenty of overhead storage. Overall a very pleasant experience and would certainly choose these exact seats (we also had 25A both ways too).

We flew out in Economy on these seats, and back in Premium Economy (see separate comments for row 24). We didn't find the seats hard or uncomfortable, even after 11 hours, and there was a decent amount of legroom. People reclining their seats was unfortunate, but I guess some people like to do that despite the intrusion on the space of the person behind. Rows 49 and 50 were close enough to the toilets for convenience but far away enough that we weren't disturbed by toilet visits. Enough bag room under the seats---in fact more than in row 24 on the way back. The cabin felt airy due to the high ceilings and the temperature was good throughout---not the usual icy wind swirling around your ears. The air wasn't as drying as usual either, so this Dreamliner must have improved the air condition.

Seats in Premium Economy row 24 ACDFG were decent. There seemed to be more legroom than in economy, but one disadvantage was the lack of space under the seat in front; the space was quite shallow so it was harder than in economy to fit bags under there. Not sure what was blocking things, other reviewers may have mentioned the AV systems. I can usually fit a handbag and a cabin bag side by side, but could fit only one bag, lying on its side. For those who prefer their bags up in the storage compartment, no problem; plenty of space in those. The cabin felt airy thanks to the high ceilings, and I didn't find the seats uncomfortable like some other reviewers.

This seat does have extra room, but also a entertainment box where your feet are meant to go. Although Virgin now call the front section of economy , economy delight, the other seats do not have extra leg room, you are paying to be in a smaller cabin. Also note some person at Virgin Atlantic decided one can no longer book the seat of your choice like before, so row 47 and extra leg room seats will show up as being blocked from purchase. This is stupid , but yet another obstacle in booking a flight with Virgin.I had already booked to fly with my daughter and 9 month old grandson, but can not seat together as Virgin will only allocate their basinet seat 24 hours before flying and I can not book these seats as they have been blocked. Flying was a pleasure, now Virgin has turned flying with them into a unpleasant experience. Although mour flight for November / December is already booked, when my March travel comes around it will not be with this airline.

Staff are always friendly but they always seem to have a habit of SLAMMING cupboards all night long. Sit are far away from gallery areas as possible. Business class on this plane are horribly uncomfortable. the bed is like lying on particle board. it is terrible.

We were excited to be flying on Virgin, but what a disappointment! The Upper Class seat is very narrow and has virtually no storage. In addition,unless you have the large table out, the only place to put a drink or snack is on a small table behind your shoulder. Finally, in the lie-flat position, the "bed" is relatively short and has a slight curve to it so someone my height (6'1") cannot lie straight. Delta's A330 Business Class is much more comfortable.

This seat was near the galley and there was a little noise, but actually had a level of privacy due to it being opposite a cupboard where the crew put their jackets. I think Virgin Atlantic have made a mistake putting all the econmy toilets in the middle instead of some at the back. Countless passengers walked to the back expecting to find them. It gives more galley space but causes massive problems in the middle between the two economy cabins. It might be good for the crew not having passengers hovering aroun£ theur galley but there is tons if soace back there and isnt a very customer friendly layout

Very disappointing leg room for a premium seat c.w. other carriers. Also very intrusive tilt mechanism. The previous AirNZ flight in the same Dreamliner aircraft seemed to have 6 to 7" more room, despite your charts suggesting 3" more. As a 6'3" user my knees where contacted by a reclined seat in front, for the whole flight, which somewhat ruined the 'premium' experience.

Seating layout in Upper Class was very disappointing. In rows G and K there is ZERO privacy, you are facing directly to the passengers on the other side of the aisle and the seat width made me feel claustrophobic. This is the worst seat in business class I have ever had the misfortune to have used. Width is just about econ premium and the seat angle recline is 60-110 degrees or 180. That's it. Also the seat only lis flat with the back FLIPPED FORWARD necessitating a separate thin pad on top of the plastic seat back. I will never fly this type of seating ever again. Whoever thought of it should be fired. I am a consistent business level flyer and will inform all of my contacts about this deceitful practice.

This is the worst business class i have flown. The novel seats have you staring at passengers opposite like chickens in a battery cage and they convert into a hard and uncomfortable ironing board. The contrast with Cathay is huge, where everything was comfortable etc. Also the Virgin crew were not a patch on Cathay. Food was cheap and awful. It gave the impression that Virgin is struggling financially and trying to save money. We were flying LHR/SYD/LHR so transferred to CX in HKG. There are better options than VS if you want a comfortable long haul flight. Even the lesse known airlines like Vietnam, Garuda, Thai and Asiana are far better.

Have flown business/upper with Virgin Delta AA and BA. Service generally good on this Virgin flight but this is the worst seat of the 4. My issue is the lack of recline on the seat. You either lie completely flat or fairly upright. The back seat recline stops fairly high so if i want to lie but with the head area still a little raised i cannot. When you pay so much for a seat this is the least i expect. Also poor design to store anything near you and the table for drinks is behind your shoulder. Real shame.

Flew VS11 from LHR to BOS, great service, fantastic staff, lovely food and great plane. Celebrating my 40th and crew gave us a bottle of Champagne & the 2 Captains & Co-Pilot signed the flight plan for me. In flight entertainment good and only fault I would say is the angle of the seat, makes it really tough to look out on take off and landing and another passenger who just wouldn't sit down for more than 5 mins!! I had a good experience with this seat. A row of 3 with my 2 kids eitherside of me. Yes the entertainment boxes reduce the width of leg room a bit but did not cause any discomfort. Overall a really good flight, great entertainment system with loads of films, good quality screen. This front section of ecomomy is the place to be. If on your own go for an isle seat to avoid the entertainment box. But if you are in a small group somone will get it.

Hong Kong to LHR 3/7/17. In addition to my comments on my outbound flight in seat 10K I cam back in PE seat 25K. What a world of difference. The PE cabin is bright and airy and you can actually see out of the window. Plenty of legroom and a very comfortable seat. Even when the lady in front reclined her seat while I was having my meal, it wasn't a problem. Food was fine if not outstanding. The crew on this fight was excellent. We were 3 hrs late leaving HK due to Chinese ATC restrictions but they did everything possible to ensure the passengers were fed watered and comfortable. On this route I would take premium economy over upper class without hesitation.

This seat is not a good one if you like to see out of the windows. You have access to two BUT one you have to look over the left shoulder, the other you have to strain forward to look out. The legroom was very nice though. Wish they had better alignment with the windows.

Don't pay extra for this unless you have extremely narrow hips. I'm used to having the bulkhead seats with slightly less width due to the immovable armrests, but as soon as I sat down I realized that my hips would be pretty sore after 10+ hours. The second thing I realized is that it was squeezing my legs together such that I couldn't get any air circulation between them. I would estimate that you're down around 15" of width in this seat.

There's a media box each at H and K. Looking across the aisle, there're also media boxes at D and F. These boxes are quite large for this day and age; they're like the old slimline desktops put vertically, cutting out 15% of the width for my legs. Very uncomfortable, and they get warm. Overall it's a pretty cramped plane, and I never got to easily cross over to the other aisle during my walk. Many of the LCD window shades couldn't dim to full opacity so I and other passengers had the setting sun shining in their eyes for a while. One of the bathroom infrared auto flushes wasn't detecting well. I'm kinda surprised for such a new model plane that there are so many things broken already. I guess they really don't make them like they used to...

Flight LHR to HGK. Previously flew Virgin B744 in Premium Economy and it was very poor indeed so changed my frequent flights to Cathay Pacific which were OK. Wretched. That's the one word I would use to describe Virgin Atlantic's 787-9s. As others have said, the 3-3-3 configuration leaves you with no room. They are NOT exaggerating. It is so cramped and uncomfortable. Seat padding is so thin I was sore during the flight. I will never fly a 787 in 3-3-3 again. Also, the window seats have an entertainment box under the seats in front of them. It is about 3 inches thick, so not a huge deal, but it is there. I'm not sure which seat in D, F or G have these boxes under them.

I flew SFO-LHR (10 hours). In seats 48D and then 49A. This forward section of economy is the best, ready access to the toilets without the queue. The middle seats of the middle aisle are really bad apart from being middle sets you also have 2 equipment boxes so the leg room is very narrow. The window seats are also poor because of an equipment box. The seats have normal legroom, I am 5 foot 11 and with the seat reclined it is just about ok. Narrow seats as the have 9 in a row. The food is good, the inflight entertainment system is awesome. With just 4 toilets in the middle of the plane there is always a queue. The cabin crew are great. Seats have power, great to charge my laptop. The App is good for check in. WiFi is very slow and for $20 I had 90 minutes of normal surfing and email out of a 10 hours flight, never had WiFi run out on any flight ever before

I wondered why the economy seats on Boeing's newest and supposedly best-ever plane are reported as being so hard. Feeling around, I discovered that all they consist of, is a foam pad about 50mm (2")thick on a rigid metal plate. Is this really the best that the 21st century can offer for an 11 hour flight? A horrible experience. Narrow seat that gives very little wriggle room and the padding is thin. The real problems arise when the seat in front reclines so being 6ft tall things got tight. Service and on board entertainment were fine but not a sufficient distraction when you're so uncomfortable. This is the sort of seating that I've experienced on short haul budget airlines where the seats often don't recline. Defintely a one-off experience !

Also, as others have said, the power boxes for the in-seat media were mounted in such a way that it significantly cuts down on the legroom/comfort - I think this must have been a decision by engineers, with no regard for passenger experience. Additionally, the seats recline too far. The aircraft is nice, but they tried to cram too many seats at the passengers expense.

Fantastic seats, probably best in Premium Economy. No one reclines into you, and you also receive a large footrest after takeoff that allows you to recline to almost a lazy-boy fashion. I loved both of my flights on Virgin and their PE product is stellar. Highly recommend.

Just flown back MIA-LHR on Dreamliner for the first time having gone out LHR-MIA on A330. The first thing that struck me on the Dreamliner was the light and spaciousness in the cabin. However the gripe is on the seat comfort. Premium Economy seats both ways but the Dreamliner seats are very uncomfortable in comparison to A330's. Reminded me of a padded park bench compared to the A330's deeper cushioned seats. Had an aching back in an hour! Flown VS117/118 and VS05/06 several times in the last few years. Come on Mr.Branson, I bet your balloon flights offered more comfort!

AMAZING aircraft, from the relaxing ambient lighting to the dimmable windows. Iam an average height person and the leg room was more than enough, fold-able tray table for different needs, Nice 9in screen with endless entertainment. The mood cabin lights is a great experience (mood light changed on each service) the dimmable windows with no blinds was a surprise. All high tech improvements is not acceptable for everyone and some people still find things to moan at. Why the toilets need to be at the back of the aircraft??? Do you actually want your food to be close to the toilets?? Its so nice boeing separated toilets from the galleys. Less noise from the aircraft and the cabin altitude is in better stage than the old aircrafts so you land and dont feel that dehydration and tiredness. No wonder why most of airlines have them. 787 makes history.

Really disappointed with the Dreamliner. We had paid to go premium because my husband is 6ft 3 (not outrageously tall these days) the pitch seemed less than on the airbus (flown on the journey out) then as soon as the passenger in front put his seat back, my husband couldn't put his knees together. Im only 5ft 8 and my knees were against the seat in front. Also the computer boxes under the seat in front severely restricted legroom and the positioning of the footrest meant there was no way my husband would get his feet underneath. Entertainment and service were great but this isn't why we paid for premium. Not worth the money and as for the stewardess' comment that there was 6inches more legroom than economy well this is simply untrue when the seats recline and must mean economy is inhumane. Wouldn't fly VA again, not worth the money.

LAX-LHR, my first 787 flight, probably the most uncomfortable economy seat I've ever had in over 3 million miles of flying. Thin cushions, video box reduces legroom, and with seat in front reclined, the seat is in your face for 10 hours! A real disappointment. I don't fly for the food but it was quite poor too.

LHR-HKG This was my first trip in a 787 and I was totally disappointed. The cabin crew was excellent and the service also. The plane it self was a total let down. Traditionally we like to be near the toilets and if possible just front of a bulkhead. Some say these are restricted reclining seats but we have never found this to be so. The recline on the 787 in row 52 was fully available. Our problem was the location of the entertainment equipment and noise from the toilets. Firstly all the centre seats have TWO entertainment boxes under the seat restricting the width of the leg room by over 8". My legs were able to stretch forward but not outwards. For the whole 12 hours my ankles were forced against the boxes and became sore. It was why we chose not to sit next to each other on the homeward flight. The toilets behind row 53 where incredibly noisy when flushed. Because these are also automatic flushes they did so 2 to 3 times for each 'sitting'! Any movement set them off. Also the lid kept falling down onto your back. Only having 4 toilets in the centre of the craft for all of economy and premium economy made it a very busy area. Finally there has been a lot said about the 787 allowing you to arrive refreshed. What rubbish. I have flown many fights on all types of equipment and the effects of poor cabin pressure, ear issues, air quality was very poor. This was all out done by the extreme coldness during the flight. I have seen crew up the temperature to subdue the passengers on overnight flights before but on both flights the 787 got so cold most passengers I saw grabbed coats and scarfs. I don't think I'll pick a flight using a 787 again.

As of Nov 7th there is a floor-mounted box in the space under the seat in front of this one. It reduces the amount of room for luggage or stretching your legs by about 1/3. Given the length of this flight, that can make a huge difference for taller travelers.

We flew virgin atlantic premium economy to new york in the summer. It was absiloutely great!! The seats were huge and tons of legroom. The food was lovely and sleep was easy in the recliner chairs. Worth every penny, to be honest i would never book first or business again. Premium is obiously not as nice but its cheaper !!!

These are great seats on the Dreamliner IMO. This review is colored by the fact that Virgin offered this row of 3 seats for 2 of us in exchange for giving up our Premium Economy seats and so we had extra room. I get that the folding TV and table isn't idea but the legroom here is huge - I am 5'10" and could barely reach the bulkhead on the floor. There are 2 windows to look out of, that is how much space you have. Didn't particularly notice the smaller seat on this flight which was only 5 and a half hours. They don't hang the bassinet there if you don't need it and the seats are right at the front of the cabin and, as with most things on a Dreamliner, very quiet. You won't be disappointed in these seats, I would certainly pay a small premium for them

Flew in this seat 10hrs SFO to London. I am 5ft8 and I was comfortable enough considering the skinny seats all airlines seem to be transitioning to in economy. 50C is nice because it is close to but forward of the only bathroom in economy. The majority of the economy seats are behind the only bathroom, so people seemed to line up in the aisle behind the bathroom and not in the aisle in front. Be aware the seats are cheap plastic and rock hard, bring a seat cushion! I always travel with a self inflating backpacking seat cushion and I was comfortable the entire flight. Note the center seat has limited legroom due to an underseat video box.However aisle seat C has plenty of leg room. The Virgin Atlantic meals were good and the flight attendants pleasant contrary to what I read from other commenters. The flight also had extensive video selection to choose from. For some reason the pilot ran the air conditioning very cold all night so I was glad I brought my jacket. This plane layout has a serious design flaw in having only the center bathroom for all of economy class. Long haul international flights absolutely need a bathroom in the back as well.If you like to get up and walk around during long flights be aware the aisles are very narrow on this plane and there is no place to stand given that the space near the only bathroom constantly has people in it waiting to use the facilities.

Will never fly this plane type again. Paid extra for legroom and the whole flight was nothing but lines for the bathrooms. No bathrooms at the rear of the plane so there was a constant line of people waiting in the area that I paid for the extra legroom for. An absolute disaster in design, i am sure the flight crew love the extra space at the back, but it's no good for the paying customer. My flight decisions in the future will be totally based on bathroom location from now on. Am done with virgin.

Why have Virgin started to use the Dreamliner? It's a rotten aircraft in Economy. As people choose to tow coffin sized cases on to planes nowadays, the isles are not wide enough. The seat is uncomfortable and if the person in front reclines his seat, the TV screen doesn't tilt so you get a crook in your neck. Also seat 47A is not an extra leg room seat as the foot area is restricted. What was wrong with using the Airbus?

Despite the legroom these were amongst the worst seats I have ever had. I read plenty negative comments prior to booking but still worse than I expected. Only book if you are very petite or a tall, narrow bean pole. I felt a little wedged in the seat which is obviously narrower due to arm rest housing the tray but on the plus side it has spurred me in to lose weight again. On way out I sat in the 'window' seat 53A - no window unless reclined - and I felt pushed up against the side of the cabin. Coming home I sat in 53J (middle seat) hoping it would be better but found it hard at mealtimes as had to try to eat with elbows tight against me. Was a relief to get off and onto the little South African Airways Express plane to Kruger which had by far comfier seats and better food! Not first time I have sat in exit row/bulkhead seats but first time it really annoyed me not having the seat pocket in front to store items.

Flew on Upper Class 5G from LAX to LHR. I really dislike the Herringbone configuration on this plane as there is absolutely no privacy in seats G/K as you face everyone and the partition between seats are very low. I think A seats have more privacy since less people are facing you. Once you lay flat, its OK. Not a fan of having a "guest" seated at footrest of the bed. When there is a someone seated and talking with the guy on the next row, he basically stares down on you sleeping. Very creepy. On return, went on economy plus. Seats are very hard and uncomfortable after a few hours. Leg room is OK. However, I do prefer it over the Upper Class.

25K is particularly good because you can keep your seat reclined throughout the flight, including mealtimes as there's no one behind you. There's full recline and there really isn't any more noise from the economy cabin compared to any other seats. My tray table was broken on Mystery Girl so they let me sit at the Upper Class bar for meals.

Disappointed to find that there was no window next to the seat, had to look out over my shoulder through window at row behind me. Sat in this extra legroom seat for a LHR-MIA flight. I found it to be comfortable as one could be for a 9 hour flight. In-flight entertainment was excellent with a wide variety of movies, TV shows, and games. Service was excellent also, with snacks and beverages in between the 2 meals, which were acceptable as well.

We flew JNB-LHR (and return later) in economy. As others have noted, the seats have a low width which is rather uncomfortable. Legroom is acceptable if you're not very tall, for me it wasn't really enough but certainly better than some domestic carriers. Food service was positive we were given water when boarding, tea/hot chocolate, meal service (bangers and mash for me, lovely!), and then breakfast in the morning, the English breakfast was nice. I was able to sleep through most of it with no problems with my own pillow, IFE is brilliant too. Would fly again if I had to choose Economy.

I sat in 46C in economy from EWR-LHR on the VS2's first flight of 787-900 on this route. I found it so uncomfortable for a night flight it was un-real. 46C has a box in the legroom in front which meant I had restricted leg room so avoid this seat. The location of the loos in economy is troublesome only 4 in the middle of the plane for economy, none at the rear. The economy seats are so small (I'm a size 6) and when you recline you have to force the seat back instead of gently pressing the button and leaning back. I even prefer Delta's far older 767 over virgin any day. (Obviously Emirates, Qantas etc are another league in their long-haul economy). To be honest I fly a lot, with various airlines, and Virgin are awful I've flown their upper deck 747, A340 and 787. At 20 I'm older than most of their cabin crew, who despite the relatively short flight to LHR will yawn whilst serving you and not cover their mouth etc etc, generally very bad manners like that which does not give virgin a good image. In comparison to Delta and my previous Virgin flights, on this flight they also failed to give out hand towels after boarding and literally chucked a 'breakfast box' at us that was basically a yoghurt and 4 bits of melon.

Presumably the people who designed the cabin layout don't travel on this aircraft themselves. They have stuffed far too many Economy seats into the small cabin which has created a horrible, crammed and uncomfortable flight for passengers. They need to rip out the back two centre rows and install some more toilets because only having the one set in the centre of the plane to serve the whole Economy section is chaotic and creates long queues in the aisles, which are narrower than most planes because of Virgin's 3-3-3 layout rather than the more spacious 2-4-2 that most Dreamliner airlines use. Will not be flying Virgin again for long flights on 787 routes. Awful!

Journey from JNB to LHR - plane was full and not impressed that our Seat Plus reservation cancelled by Virgin. The noise from the nearby toilets was excessive and went on throughout the night resulting in little sleep. Why is it that at 11pm they have to start serving a hot meal when most people want to sleep - I did not want a meal and tried to get to sleep but was woken up by cabin crew asking me to restore my seat position to the upright until they had finished the meals!

Delhi from Heath Row 9/02/2016. You will see that all the good comments are from the front 25 rows. Behind that there is a serious problem with cramped conditions. 1. The aisles are too narrow for a passenger to pass a trolley. 2. There is no circulation space at front or back of economy. 3. There are no toilets at the back at all! This means that when 2 trolleys are out alongside row 53, then the rear 18 rows, 162 passengers have no access to the toilets. Also there are no leg stretching circulation areas. Seat 64 window seat has no window! Centre seats vents cannot be reached from sitting as the baggage bins are too high. The self dimming windows are clever but poor for someone like me who pays for a window view. On the good side, the food was good in the very cramped seats and the video choice excellent. Row 66 is no worse than the rest in any way, as there are no toilet queues nearby. I urge Virgin to take out the last 2 cente rows and replace with toilets.

11K is a dreadful upper class seat. The bar is right next to your seat, and the staff stand in front of your seat to make drinks throughout the flight. There is constant loud banging of cupboard doors and the bin flap, and when the staff are not serving, people are sitting at the bar having often very loud conversations. It's like being sat in the galley. They shouldn't have put a seat there at all.

Joburg to Heathrow overnight flight. Positives - new aeroplane with greater feeling of space, much larger windows, larger overhead luggage space, much improved air quality and noise reduction. Seat and flat bed comfortable, managed plenty of sleep. Excellent food and service from cabin crew. Negatives this seat is right next to the bar which gives noise disturbance. Thankfully last drinkers went to bed at midnight. Top marks to Virgin for delaying check in desk closure to ensure 25 of us joining from another carrier's delayed connecting flight made it onto the Virgin plane together with our luggage.

I really dislike the headrests on these seats, they are too hard and have no sideways adjustments. There is also no way to use a head pillow with any degree of comfort, also these seats are amazingly thin so that any movement in the rear seat pocket behind you gets felt in your back, not good . I did the outgoing hk lhw leg in 53k, this has a limited leg room on the right due to the door slide which makes the occupant sit at an angle if you are tall, not great. For the return, i was in 53C. Close proximity to the toilets means that other passengers have a tendancy to use this seats top to guide themselves down the isle in the dark so you can get disturbed. I wont be using virgin again on this route as other carriers have more comfortable seats

11.5 hour flight and didn't feel as jet lagged as usual. 789 is a good aircraft, fairly quiet and feels more modern than the airbus 333. Y seats felt a bit hard, but ife was great, very intuitive and in seat power useful. toilets worked fine and cabin service good. better than qf on the next sector

I can't praise Virgin highly enough. Flew LHR-DEL & back in Upper Class. The whole experience from check-in to disembarking (I was flying onwrd to KTM so can't comment on luggage delivery times in DEL) was something to behold. From desk to Clubhouse took just 11 minutes. A personal tour of the Clubhouse as I had not visited there before & an excellent meal from very attentive steff enough when it was busy. The 787 was superb. Very quiet. Seats very comfortable & bed was great, manage to sleep about 5 hours going out & 3 coming back. FAs were excellent & always on hand, no need to use the buzzer. Luggage at LHR was delivered to the carousel in about 15 minutes from getting the plane getting to the airbridge. All-in-all a very satisfying experience. so much so that I have pesuaded my daughter to fly Virgin to US next year.

Flew on the dreamliner to London and loved it. I have flown the 330 many times and this plane is a upgrade. Newer of course, a bitmore room, the footrest is larger and can hold a small carry on unlike the older plane. The overhead bins are gigantic! I did feel more refreshed after arrival and the days after, my jet lag was less for sure. The bathrooms are larger and nicer as well. Love it!

Nothing wrong with the plane but what have VA done with their design. Seats okay - not an improvement on the A330 and why have they removed the toilet from the front. Why have they lowered the sides in the business class pod - you no longer feel it is private. Remember when VA were a cut above the rest but sorry guys - things have moved on and you are no longer ahead of the pack!!!

I have just returned to London from JNB on this aircraft. I had paid extra for this seat and wish now that I hadn't bothered. The narrowness of the seat combined with a bulky passenger next to me made for a very cramped and uncomfortable flight. It was almost impossible to eat comfortably and the toilets nearby meant an almost constant queue waiting to use them. In addition the lack of anywhere to put things and the lack of a window added to the general discomfiture.

64A and K have misaligned windows. The aircraft does not have enough lavatories, and I found the build quality of the interior to be disappointing. Mood lighting aside, the experience is not significantly different from that of the 767.

Basically, I am really impressed with this airplane - we truly did notice a difference in jet lag (less!) and general physical well-being after both the outbound and inbound flights. My only disappointment was the Premium Economy seats. The size was fine and the pitch; it's the seat itself that disappointed. It was surprisingly stiff - that is, it didn't give in any way. The headrest was way too high for me and I couldn't adjust it low enough. Between the inability to sort of sink into the seat and the lack of neck/head support, sleeping was impossible on this overnight flight. I dozed off once or twice, only to awaken with shooting pains in my neck which persisted for four days after landing. For me, this is a serious enough down-side that I will try economy next time - I only had a glimpse, but it looked like those fabric seats might be kinder to the body, despite their narrowness.

The new Boeing is a great airplane. I really liked the large windows and the ability to polarize to vary light intensity...no more shades! The plane itself feels, for want of a better word, solid. I wish I could be as complimentary of the Virgin Atlantic business class seating. At best, it is very strange. At worst, uncomfortable and difficult to use. The fold out drink holder is behind the passenger. The seats are very narrow, and do not recline enough to be comfortable without making up the bed. The herringbone layout, where no one faces front, gives everyone a neck crick if they are even remotely interested in looking out a window. VA should look to Singapore Airlines for a clue as to what business travel should be.
