Austrian: Children Flying Alone

What is unaccompanied minor service?

Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered to be unaccompanied minors. Most airlines provide a service to assist these children from their point of departure to their final destination.

What age does my child have to be to qualify as an unaccompanied minor?

A child is considered an unaccompanied minor if he/she is over 5 years of age and is not accompanied in the same cabin by a parent or guardian.

Austrian Airlines also accommodates children traveling alone who are aged between 3 months and 5 years for an additional fee. Please inform the reservation office in due time, at least 72 hours before departure if your child is traveling unaccompanied. Austrian Airlines provides an escort for the entire journey.
