Overview

Malaysia Airlines Airbus A350-900 operates with 4 First Class seats, 35 Business Class seats, 27 Economy Class With Extra Legroom seats and 220 Economy Class seats.

Malaysia Airlines has fitted its A350s in a typical four-class layout accommodating 286 passengers.

The First Class seats are located in the front of the plane with a 1-2-1 seat formation. The First Class has a total of 4 seats with enclosed monument (2 individual seats and 2 double seats). The seats have a pitch of 83 inches and are convertible into a full flat bed of 83 inches length and a width of 23 inches. Each seat also boasts an individual 24-inch in-flight entertainment screen with personal closet and stowage for coat, luggage, laptop and personal belongings. A granite coktail table is located at the center armrest. All seats are equipped with 115VAC PED power supply and USB port.

The Business Class seats have a 1-2-2/1-2-2 seat formation. The Business Class has a total of 35 seats (12 double assembly), convertible into a full flat bed with a length of 78 inches and a width of 22 inches. Although these seats are technically flat-beds, some users have reported that they do not feel like true flat-beds because the foot rests don't elevate completely, leaving your feet at an angle. Each seat also boasts an individual 16-inch in-flight entertainment screen, seatback mounted, and personal items stowage. All seats are equipped with 115VAC PED power supply and USB port.

The Economy Class seats are in a formation of 3-3-3. The Economy Class seats have a total of 247 seats with individual 11-inch IFE wide screen, seatback mounted. Economy Class with Extra Legroom seats recline 6 inches and have a 36-inch pitch and 18-inch in-seat width, while regular Economy Class seats have a recline of 6 inches and have a 32-inch pitch and 18-inch in-seat width. All seats are equipped with 115VAC PED power supply and USB port.

Window throne seat in the middle of the front cabin of business class. So much room either side of the seat, it was fantastic. Some other reviews say the foot hole when sleeping is a bit tight and uncomfortable, but I thought it was fine. At least it's straight ahead - unlike other airlines which have the foothole on an angle. 11k is the last row in the business class cabin and is one of the throne seats. If you are intending to sleep it is great as it feels really secluded and private, and is away from all galley and toilet noise. Nobody walks past either. Recommended.

Seats 2, 5, 9, 11K are all "throne" seats which means they have armrests on both sides of the chair. They are perfect if you like to spread out or work etc. Also gives more privacy as you are not directly on the aisle.

Economy with extra leg room is exactly what it says it is. No other frills, just an extra 4 inches or so over plain vanilla economy. Of course you could save your money and hope to bag an empty row of seats in economy but having slashed capacity on this flagship route that is unlikely these days.

Now that MAS have abandoned quad engined planes on this busy flagship route their daily capacity is down by about 40%. Not too surprising then that even off peak these A350's are fully booked. Seat pitch has been reduced over the years and this was a cramped and uncomfortable flight with long queues for the too few bathrooms.

I have flown on this aircraft several time. Do not take those seats if possible. Its extremely claustrophobic and the window passengers will find difficult to get out. Too narrow. The business class centre seats are probably the best (7D&7G) but have a disadvantage of not having a bulkhead to store cabin bags. My overall assessment is that the airlines thought their passengers were midgets!!!

The worst business class experience of 40 years. As a tall 1.9m person I could not move when my feet were jammed into the tiny space between the seats in front when the bed was extended. I ended up with no sleep, brutal cramp. The Malaysian 380 was great in Business this was simply appalling. To make matters worse i will not fly Malaysian again after they dismissed my complaint and they now refuse to transfer my air miles to another airline in the same grouping.

Sest is next to the galley and is very noisy. Also the overbin above 7a and 8a is reserved for medical equipment. Bags need to be stored a distance from your seat. Very annoying as needed to work and get documents during flight to work with as didnt fit in storage in the seat.

The row 17 bulkhead seats ABC JFK have limited legroom for tall passengers.
