The centre two seats in business class (may also be true of the rest of the aircraft) do not have their own overhead air vent. If like me you are a bit larger and get warm easily, you may find these seats uncomfortable.

I was pleasantly suprised by the CZ business class experience in this dreamliner. Staff was very attentive, food was OK, wines were really nice. This has been one of the best sleeping experiences I had in business class: bed was flat, long enough and your feet are free to move (most other airlines have tunnels for feet, which I find quite frustrating when turning while sleeping).

Been on this aircraft for a couple of times back and forth CAN-LHR. If you were on Economy try to avoid this type and choose those with Airbus A330-200, etc. Economy seats on the B787 were the worst among the fleet. I sat for once and would never want it again. Business class seats were good though as always. Food, drink and service can be considered good for the usually competitive fares but that's it. In one occasion my whole family got upgraded to First class but per my wife the First class seat were only better than the Business class seat when it comes to bed time, as it provide less adjustable angles compared to a Business class seat if you want to sit reclined while reading or watching TV. I also didn't see foods served in First class being superior to Business class - of course I wouldn't purchase First class tickets anyway so that really doesn't matter (laugh). Again, try to avoid this aircraft if you travel Economy. I had my lesson learnt.

The seatback reclined about 5", which is critical for me because of my back problem. Seat pitch was adequate although not great (I'm 6-1). I made it through the 13 hr. flt. from YVR - CAN although not too comfortably. The electronic window tint would have been a disaster if it didn't work (I was on the sunny side of the plane for 13 hrs.). Fortunately it did. What was wrong with the manual window shades? Another gimmick that Boeing tried, to hype up the plane, which isn't worth anything. (And in my 34 yrs. as an airline pilot I've spent a lot of time "in the back" on different airplanes.) If you're over 6' you'll struggle - if under that you should be OK. Good luck !

This was easily the most disappointing Business Class seat i have been on so far. The monitor was broken and hence the in flight entertainment offered was a small tablet, with approximately 10 English movies to choose from, all very poor for my taste. The service was mediocre at best, and worst of all the first class seats were all empty. Even though my seat and entertainment system were broken, i was not offered to move seat as business class was full. Instead i get offered a tablet with little or no entertainment and the staff decide to use 1st class for them selves? How this airline can continue to operate is beyond me, terrible, terrible, terrible. Choose another airline or a better functioning aircraft

The seat fully reclines. No toilets at the back of the aircraft, so no other passengers walking by. Lots of space to store cabin baggage in gap between seat and window. Great service from cabin staff - attentive, happy, good airline meal options. Flight is direct - doesn't stop as per previous comments. Seat width and pitch fine for 5'11" person given the price of tickets. Entertainment system great.

They have packed far too many seats into the 787. There is less leg room than a budget short haul flight despite this flight being 11.5 hours long. Avoid this flight where possible.

This is my first time on China Southern Airline and most of you would like to know how was the seat. The seat is THE WORST seat I've sat for internationalairline. It was very firm but contoured to your buttock so naturally your tail bone will definitely feel the pressure. An hour to my flight of 13 hours, it was very very uncomfortable and painful. Had to keep on changing my seating position to alliviate the discomfort. Luckily brought along a gel seating pad. I'm 177cm tall and if the fellow seating in front reclines the seat is literally 6 inches from your face if you have your seat upright. You can't watch the IFE comfortably and i ended up did not watch any movies during my flight. If you take this 787 please bring extra seat cushion so you can enjoy your flight. If you are as tall as I am, better upgrade to Premium for extra legroom but unfortunately there aren't premium economy.

The person sitting at seat 52 B or J will have an extra entertainment screens, two tray tables, and two seat pouches due to having three seats in front of the row due to having an extra seat in the row in front left or right of them. Also, there is a little area below the window to place a small bag.

The blinds are a bit gimmicky but were working fine on my flight. Overall I found the aircraft very good with excellent if young cabin crew. The food was varied but excellent. I found no problems at Guangzhou airport and the lounge was very good.

Worst flight of my life. The 787 3x3x3 seat arrangement should be illegal and China Southern legroom is designed for 9 year olds. Avoid both plane and airline like the plague. They force passengers with all their belongings to disembark at depressing Wuhan airport for immigration. All this because from WUH to CAN the flight becomes domestic so they won't leave a single empty seat. It all felt like slaughter line from second one. Still can't feel my legs. Baiyun Airport in Guangzhou nothing work. Nobody speaks english and it took 3 hours for immigration. I would have paid anything to see the end oI might fly with them again ....if they paid me !f it and it is finally over.

'Toilets may be bothersome!' That's an understatement. The doors are very noisy and with 3 of them going off every 10 - 30 seconds ear plugs are definitely required. We were travelling with a 9 Month old boy, and we had requested a bassinet for him, which we received ok, the bassinet mounts on the toilet wall, the wall is about 20mm thick at most, the bassinet shakes when people open and close the door, and when someone flushes the toilet, at least every 5 minutes or less, then the noise is enough to wake the dead. Needless to say we had to hold him the entire flight. Thanks! To add insult to injury the seats are so narrow my wife and I couldn't flat against the back of the seats as our shoulders overlapped, I would not consider either of us to be particularly large! The only thing the bassinet was good for was holding our baby gear. Must say though the staff were awesome and couldnt help enough. The 777 we flew on after was so much better, we could both sit back and the bassinet was on a galley wall so no noise! bliss compared to this 787.

While the seats were tight (I'm 5' 11"), I was able to sleep pretty well. Did the higher pressurization or humidity help? I don't know. The 'blinds' are pretty useless, so it was good it was a night flight. Seat felt very uncomfortable without reclining, but was acceptable with a little recline. Other random comments. Agree with other commenters about the toilet door--it opens off-center, is a bit unwieldy and noisy.

The 787 is disappointing in Business Class. The touch-activated window blinds just do not deliver, they are an odd and failed gimmick, some already losing their blue tint and looking tatty. I was blinded by sun at 38,000ft for the entire 12hr trip with them set at max darkness level. And I was in seat C, not next to the window. My wife was in the window, squinting. Boeing must have known that they are useless sleep-depriving tricks and annoying obstacles to book reading and screen viewing, from the start in Seattle. Regular pull-up/down blinds are needed, in addition to the silly button activated things. We are not all tech kids looking for gadgets. Less can be more on long-haul. Let the cabin service do the impressing. There is an absence of overhead lockers in the centre of 787 Business Class which makes the guys sitting there inevitably compete with you for upper storage. The 787 WCs are tiny. All in all the 787 feels curiously old-style and awkward, like the 90s, when Boeing started designing it. I don't want to be in a Business Class cabin that's like my neighbour's open-plan kitchen. Let's have some new-style privacy, please. The 787 is not a great plane to be inside of. . BUT the new CZ 777ER is just great, a far better aircraft, passenger environment and flying experience. It is a contemporary full-marks airline presentation. The 777ER new configuration is the best thing up there on any carrier and better than any 380. The Emirates 380s are showing wear and tear in Business, as are all the other 380s up there, esp Qantas. Low marks to Airbus for quality of original accommodation build materials. Look for a new-fit 777ER every time. The 777 is the battleship of the skies, the benchmark for us paying passengers on any day, on any flight, and on any carrier. See you on a 777ER. Just add a China Southern cabin service smile and you're truly up there. Don't buy a used 787 from anyone, even if it's going cheap. It is.

The seat was adequate -- not too narrow and enough space between my knees and the back of the seat in front (I am 5'8", slim build). There seemed to be a lesser recline than the R47H seat I was in on the outbound flight. The touch screen seemed not very responsive to touch -- seems a common problem with other aircrafts as well. Being next to the galleys was a bonus as I could quickly nip into the galleys for drinks or food/snack, and not many people walked pass my seat to visit the galleys. Unlike the Airbus there is no entertainment box underneath any seat in front--on several Airbus flights I had to stick my foot out on the aisle because of the entertainment box. It was a nightmare! The Airbus designers certainly did not have the economy passenger feet's wellbeing in mind.

I was very much looking forward to a 787 flight but it turned out to be extremely uncomfortable and disappointing ! I am an average 6 Ft guy but the leg room is awful and the seat very narrow and uncomfortable for a 11 hour flight. The IFE was very basic and appeared to be old technology. My connecting flight was on a CZ A330 which was very comfortable with bags of leg room !

The noise from the toilets is a major problem sitting in this area(much worse than normal) The doors slam shut due to a new design on the 787 so bring ear-plugs!
